The haematologist in neonatology II. Transfusion, red-cell and white-cell disorders in neonates

Shahera Rahman, Madeline Adams, Philip Connor

Abstract

Cytopenias are very common in neonates. We have focused on the common causes and their investigation and management. Transfusion of allogeneic blood components figures in the management of anaemia and thrombocytopenia, so several of its principles have been included here.
